Now on its 3rd year, Pandi Water District (PanWaDis) conducted a Team Building Activity 2017 that focused on “capacitating” workforce on the importance of everyday workplace collaboration for a better WAter Sanitation Health (WASH) service held last September 14-16, 2017 at Forest Cabin, Camp John Hay, Baguio City, Benguet.

The objectives of the said activity were to assess the effects of team-building on communication and teamwork among PanWaDis male and female staff, to build and serve on high- performance, effective teams and to help meet PanWaDis goals and objectives.

In her opening topic, PanWaDis General Manager Ms. Elvira Socorro B. Santos seek better ways to comprehend the levers of motivation among men and women employees of PanWaDis to address this priority issue. Her timely lectures about Inspiration, Motivation, Transformation and Team Building, Team Bonding encouraged and strengthened workforce perspective as public trust. In order for the employees to work in practice, it’s important for her, to be motivated in the first place same goes to each employees and tagged “ I Love my Life”.

Lacking of interest and enthusiasm for work can have disastrous consequences for it will affect the entire workforce performances. This is when managers/division leaders have a great role to play.

To have a better workplace, workforce should be able to evolve in an environment that promotes their wellbeing and compliment with other employees. “ Small dreams are reached alone, Great dreams require others, You cannot succeed alone no matter how talented or skillful you are” – Francis Kong.

Each Division Head was tasked to discussed different topics, and as for Production and Water Quality Division Head Ms. Trishalinn DR. Armiza talk about Productivity and Commitment. The Pandi Water District value commitment among its employees because it is assumed to decreased level of withdrawal behaviors, such as tardiness, absenteeism, and turnovers.  It is crucial to talk about commitment because men and women employees with a sense of commitment are less likely to engage in poor performance and more willing to accept change. Productivity is never an accident. It is always the result of a commitment to excellence, intelligent planning, and focused effort.” — Paul J. Meyer

In order to reach new benchmarks of achievement, we must master the art of clear communication. The Commercial Division Head, Ms. Janet G. Capiral topic about Good Communicator and Reliable made men and women employees of Pandi WD realized and accept that clear communication is always a two-way process. It’s not enough to speak clearly; you have to make sure you’re being heard and understood.

Ms. Criselda Cruz, Administrative and General Services Division Head topic on Boosting Morale to create Effective Workforce. The management (PanWaDis) understand fully that employee morale and employee engagement go hand-in-hand .  That the state of men and women attitude directly relates to how they will perform on the workplace. If an employee feels underappreciated, overworked, and de-valued, what is their motivation and incentive to excel? There is none. Low employee morale breeds employee disengagement.

The employee accountability is the responsibility of employees to complete the tasks they are assigned, to perform the duties required by their job, and to be present for their proper shifts in order to fulfill or further the goals of the Pandi Water District. If tasks are not completed and functions of the job are not performed properly, then that employee will also be responsible for dealing with the repercussions.  Ms. Cristina S. Fetalco of Finance Division emphasized the meaning of ACCOUNTABILITY in the workplace.

“ When people work together, conflict is often unavoidable because of differences in work goals and personal styles” says Engr. Ronaldo R. Dalisay, Construction and Engineering Division Head during his lecture on How To Handle CONFLICT in the workplace.

After the discussions, there were activities and challenges related to each topic, the Production and Water Quality Division emerged as the Over-all Champion. The 2017 Team-building activities had been effective for improving the teamwork skills and team effectiveness among men and women employees of Pandi Water District.
